Farm Manager

  • Stud & Bull Lease Operation – North Waikato

Piquet Hill Farms Ltd is a highly regarded and successful 1600ha family farming operation located in the heart of Te Akau, North Waikato. This medium hill country property runs a total of 24,000su which includes a high performance commercial ram stud along with a bull lease business offering quality service bulls to the dairy industry.

A professional Farm Manager is required to run Piquet Hill Farms’ 1200ha, 15,000su sheep & beef breeding block which is the engine room of the business. The Farm Manager will report directly to the Owner and will co-ordinate seasonal operations/activities with the Genetics Manager who runs the adjacent 400ha block. Supported by a Head Shepherd and Junior Shepherd, the appointee will be responsible for the day-to-day running of the property which includes managing the ewes, dairy lease bulls, steers and heifers.

Key to your success in this role will be your:

  • Excellent stockmanship and capable team of working dogs.
  • Experience in staff management with the ability to organise, plan and prioritise tasks.
  • High skill level in general maintenance.
  • Computer literacy and recording/reporting skills.
  • Excellent communication skills.
